Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate
Standard Disclosure Under the No Surprises Act
Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, healthcare providers and mental health facilities are required to inform individuals who do not have insurance, or who are not using insurance (self-pay), both orally and in writing, of their right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" of expected charges before healthcare items or services are provided.
Right to an Estimate: You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency mental health items or services, including your psychotherapy sessions at Steamtown Therapies.
Timeline: If you schedule a service at least 3 business days in advance, Steamtown Therapies will provide you a Good Faith Estimate in writing within 1 business day after scheduling. If you schedule at least 10 business days in advance, the estimate will be provided within 3 business days. You can also request a Good Faith Estimate in writing before you even schedule an initial appointment.
Dispute Resolution: If you receive a bill from Steamtown Therapies that is at least $400 more than your written Good Faith Estimate, federal law allows you to dispute the bill through a patient-provider dispute resolution process.
Record Keeping: Ensure that you save a copy or take a picture of any written Good Faith Estimate provided to you by our office.
